Service charge is an extra amount of money collected from the guests from the service which they have purchased and then distributed to the staff who are providing this service. All resorts collect service charge from nearly any service provided to the guest. Room revenue, food and beverage revenue, seaplane transfer, spa, watersports are all places from where service charge is collected. (Exceptions being made where some of these services are provided by a 3rd party company). For nearly anything a guest pays for, an additional 10% from that amount is collected before taxes as service charge to be distributed to the staff.
