Marriott International to start apprenticeship program for locals

Marriott International to start an apprenticeship program for locals. With an agreement signed between the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, Maldives Institute of Technology and Marriott International who are representating their seven resorts in the maldives, Marriot will begin an apprenticeship program training approximately 50 locals in various aspects of the tourism industry while gaining on the job work experience.

While Marriot is the first International chain to sign an agreement with the government, agreeing to train a total of 250 locals within 5 years apprenticeships have been successfully carried out on the initiative of multiple resorts in the Maldives such as the well-known Four Seasons and One and Only apprentice programs.

One-the-job training via apprentice programs has been proven to be a successful method of getting locals into the industry. Many locals who have started as apprentices are now in the industry in supervisory and management positions.

We applaud Marriot International for the launch of this valuable program and hope for a stunning success.
