About Stand Maldives

Stand Maldives is a platform for workers to gather and share information with peers in their industry. We are a platform that works for better workplace practices and for empowerment of employees through awareness of employee rights.

Who are we

We are a group of individuals who seek to improve the current practices of the tourism industry of the Maldives, a group who wish to bring to light issues faced by workers in the industry through awareness and advocacy. With our effort we hope to bring about a positive change to the industry.

What do we have to achieve

We hope to unite workers across the industry, share information of workplace best practices and set a higher standard for the minimum requirements to be met by large-scale tourism operators. While change is a tough and long process we hope that through awareness of the industry practices and on the ground realities faced by tourism workers across the country we as employees would be able to advocate for better changes in our own workplaces to raise the standards of service given to tourism employees by our employers. We hope to fill the gaps which the government and human resources professionals have failed to do in our 50 years of our tourism.
